Server shut downs on Public Holidays - Vr1 response to this is that servers are shut down according to North American public holidays, because the bulk of players are from North America, and Evernight is a game designed to be played from work.
Sub topics of the thread have included a list of bugs that might occur during a game of evernight, the ability of the admin's to intervene at such times in the case of a tick holiday, weekend or standard day, and has in some cases degenerated to straight argument.
Further deviation from the topic has people talking about whether IT professionals are being professional. Apparently some are disgusted with the amount of time people spend playing from work. Others are the ones playing from work.
Chatter :
It appears to be "make fun of Ahuizotl day" in here. There are drug references, and magically appearing blue faces.

major theme here is discussion over the 2 remaining places. A new style of game, and an interesting one at that. One I will investigate the rules to, so that I can keep a copy for the madnergal record books.

The War pacts thread has now deteriorated into people trying to outdo each other with regard to their ability to exaggerate. If you ask me, RedBranch and Szuszi are exaggerating a million times more than anyone else in the universe.
Phiasc0 is out of town from Thursday (3rd) till the 14th. He has Internet access from the 5th onward.
INFO on VR1's name change is available in this NG. This was stated also in the News section, but warrants comment here too.
Tribute has been paid to me... Hurray! I am brilliant.
Lies and Sighs :
There is a conflict in lies and sighs, there is almost an actual lie/sigh being told. In an incident that I don't think anyone is fully informed about, Fah_Q has been accused of being a NAP breaker. The conclusion of those who have offered comments is that he most likely did break the agreement, however, the final conclusion, seems to be that the whole thing was poor communication. I say, everyone who is in a game with Fah_Q send him a hug, and hopefully he will feel less aggressive to those he is NAP'd with.

The Zappa thread is still running. It is rumored that it was started way back at the beginning of Beta Testing, and was off-topic even then.
a new thread, which is totally off topic has been created. The thread is Titled "Bubba" and so far we have learnt that the University of Washington has a good Med School. ~Sigh~

Some new additions can be found if you look closely here and there on the site. On the home page next to the top banner image, there is now a "Quick Links" nav area to some of the more popular areas of MadNergal.com

Gackmasta has created a Popup window that now lists all the players who have createed a bio here at MadNergal.com. (Available from the "Quick Links" and from The Halls Of Valor pages near the bottom.) This was a higly requested feature, and incorporates alll the functionality that was once available in the old "Halls of Valor" pages.

A new way to view the Personal Forms Archive has been created. There is now a centralized page, where you can choose to either view the Personal Forms grouped by Religion, or select an individual Player and view all of his/her Forms.

Behind the scenes a lot of work has been done in an on-going project to bring forward the technology that runs this site, as well as to make the site easier to update, administer, and maintain. Some of the immediate results of this you may see is a more consistant "Look and Feel" as you navigate around the site. Additionally, it will be easier for us to add to and update the user-contributed content.

For the future:

Look for the ability to edit your personal forms, rather than have to delete, and re-enter your form when a change needs to be made.

Bios and Forms now randomly pop up on the home page, and of course, bring you to the page where the full listing of that character is. The Images directory is now categorized by creature or class instead of just a big messy splatter of images.

Halls of Valor section finally loading FAST and a bit more dynamic. Not-Quite Forms of Legend are now viewable at the bottom of the FOL pages under some sassy names I came up with, if you have something better, lemme know.

Thanks to Waterdios for letting me bite into his creation, The Library of Midia for the new Halls of Valor popup I built to contain the library's exp and games played statistics. Look for more MadNergal/Library of Midia cooperation in the future.

Thanks also to all you who contributed to the wonderful quotes that now adorn the tops of the Halls of Valor. Also, thanks for all the contributions to Scrolls and EN Lore. I soon hope to make such things updatable via your madnergal account, and then have an admin just check it off for proper context.

Everyone should be sure to check out the Clueless Fury Farm I have not yet MadNergalized it, but I wanted to get it up as soon as possible. It is truly a great calc and document about the necessity of farming. -Gackmasta

As many may have noticed, MadNergal has gone though quite an overhaul since last news item. For one, the navigation has changed and I actually decided on a Logo (courtesy VR1) That is actually Nergal the Mad from K'ar Tuf.

I have split it up into navigation sections also, hopefully no one got lost. I am still planning a nice header with 'quick links' to probably several Community pages. If some of you would like to see a certain 'quick link', please let me know as I really have no idea how the community uses the site.

Gnascher's EN Cookbook seems to have taken off quite well, and the WBTH/Athiator chat seems to get used quite frequently. Bluesky has updated the EverNight Vision calculator, which, judging by the downloads, many already know. -Gackmasta

Gack and I pulled together a forum for everyone with a bio to display your favorite forms. Go your bio ... click the "Form" link, and everything should be self-explanatory!!

Over 500 images in the Image Database now. If I can just catagorize the first 200 in the database, I'll set up some search links to catagories (ie: Warriors, Female, Animals, Demons, etc.) If anyone's feeling ambitious, just let me know, i'll give you the info on what I need.

There may still be broken links floating around from the server move, if you find them or any other bugs, please post them in the MadNergal.com NG or e-mail me.

I have made updates to the bio list on the left nav in the bio section, it is now much faster that I have cached it. It will now only rebuild itself after someone updates their bio (now if i can only get around to doing that on the pages themselves).
As the list grows I realized I needed more space and decided on a new section, Prophets of Fury. When I get around to making the entire bio section one nice dynamic page, I will most likely have the ranks be the list (of course, that goes along with the yet-to-build pull down navigation menu too).

The new MadNergal Calculator is a nice addition, original Mao Calc was shredded, rebuilt, amended and improved by Gnascher(complete with a pretty icon in the Favorites on IE). Also, WaterDios has a download page for top players to be used with Bluesky's Calc which can be found on NightVision Calculator page. RyanG's calc has been made available for download as well.

Several Items have been added to the Scrolls of Wisdom, including Rning's flora and fauna of Midia. The Book of Zoltan is more easily browsable, and I am still working on a better means of posting forms of legend.

Over 150 new images added to the image database. Gnascher has been helping me out with lots of QA and code on the Bio pages. Links on the images that were sending to the old HTML pages have been updated, so getting rid of that 'Scared Crusader' image on your bio should no longer be a problem {wink, wink}.

Next on the agenda will be to create the new "Forms of Legend" pages, as well as "Personal Forms and Stories". So, if you've got a form with over 1000 experience, it's a candidate. Start saving screenshots, because they will be required for proof before entry into the annals of history is granted. As for your personal pages, we'll probably give you a page or so to start immortalizing your favorite forms, stories, taunts .... whatever...

A little background behind MadNergal...

Formerly known as Elrads.com, which was owned by Lassiter and updated by Elrad and Lassiter, I believe the registration was up on the name and the host so Lassiter, since he was leaving EN to pursue other things, let it go fallow.

Shortly prior to this a fellow named Old English spoke with Elrad about putting together a Newbies Page (which was actually already slightly started by someone else named DJ Joe, but he too let it die).

So Old English started making bios by hand from peoples feedback to him in the lobby, I, Gackmasta, signed up for such and said i could probably help him make it dynamic.
He said 'Whoa! that's great!'

So I helped him out for a bit, then he too had other issues to take care of and had to leave EN, so I got the whole boat show (as far as the Newbie Pages).

I spoke to Elrad as things were coming together for me and he said that he and Leviat were planning a whole overhaul on the site (which is still constantly occurring), and wanted to know if I wanted in, well... here I am :)

The bios section is just about finished up, a little more error checking then onto the guest registry. Following that I think will be the personal Favorite Forms section, which may or may not update to the Forms of Legend. (I'm having a difficult time on "fraud" prevention. Since we don't want to have to manually check every form that becomes eligible.) All bio images are also now dynamic (so you clowns that haven't updated your bios, get on it), and the image pages load faster because we have real thumbnails now.

Currently the site is still going through a bit of an overhaul. So pardon any broken links, pages, etc. If you want to be helpful, you can take down the error and let us know what it is at MadNergal.
